Bad News

My grandfather (only living grandparent) is back in the hospital after having a stroke two weeks ago.  They have noticed an abnormal amount of swelling in the brain.  They know that he has had no extra bleeding in his brain which is good but now they are looking at all of the possibilities of cancer.  We should find out something tomorrow.  I talked to dad tonight and he told me that our dog Maddie had died.  I cried.  I know she has been getting sick, but I just couldn't handle hearing my dad talking about everything he has lost lately which includes mother, wife, dog, work, and coming soon, house.  Yet, he still is keeping a good attitude and has even tried getting in touch with a pastor from our church to talk.  He then told me that the job he had lined up (to work on a huge mansion for sound system stuff) had fallen through.  The man called him yesterday to let him know that the house had burned to the ground.  It was actually on the Nashville news yesterday.  I just couldn't believe it!  I am still exhausted from parent teacher conferences and I would love to take tomorrow off work, but I just can't.  Anyways, I guess all I can say is that prayer would be welcome.  

Beginners Blog

I decided to start a blog to keep close friends updated and also just to have a place to put my thoughts.  So here goes:

This week is parent teacher conference week and it has already been stressful.  Last year we got a full day of parent teacher conferences without having school and this year we have to do it two days after school, which leaves me in conferences after school until at least 6:15.  This including the fact that I scheduled appointments during my breaks so that I wouldn't be in conferences till 7 each night.  I do love my job but it does require so much extra time.  I would love to make plans with friends from college but as of this week, there is no end in sight as far as my workload.  

In other news, Jim and I are trying to teach Sophie (our golden retriever) how to stay.  She is almost 5 and she knows how to sit but the concept of stay has never been taught.  It has been quite a task to say the least.  It reminds me of the old saying: Can't teach an old dog new tricks....  

We are also trying to eat healthier and last week was pretty successful.  This week with the parent teacher conferences, I have just wanted something easily made.  Needless to say, it probably isn't so healthy.  
We had date night Saturday night and we had such a nice time. We went to the movies to see The House Bunny, which we both thought was a pretty good movie and then we had dinner at Chili's. We have been officially married for 3 months now, however it feels like 6 since that is when we actually bought our house and started living together. I can hardly believe how the time has flown. Anyways, I think I am now just rambling... It just feels good to type something out. :)
